As a swimmer, I'd like to express my thoughts on the development of swimming in India. Swimming is a popular multi-event discipline. The sport has a lot of room for improvement, and many talented swimmers are showing dedication at the national level. Indian elite swimmers are steadily progressing in the right direction, participating at a higher level and producing better results. Swimming Federation Of India’s collaboration with an Australian sports education and consultancy organization, the long-term indigenous coaches education and certification pathway aims to produce certified swim instructors in the country in five years. Apart from the adoption of standardized coaching certification, mandatory online registration of swimmers and coaches, and up-gradation of infrastructure in the country, the SFI's long-term development goal for 2020-28 includes aiding the Sports Authority of India in these domains. Swimming infrastructure improvements in the country are encouraging swimmers at the grassroot level. The SFI has begun the process of getting underwater biomechanics monitoring equipment and software in order to assist elite swimmers in improving their performance.
The Odisha government's sport and youth services department (DSYS) and the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) have announced a partnership agreement to develop, promote, and enhance the state's and India's swimming ecosystems. This would give assistance and sponsorship for SFI, and the Federation will provide technical knowledge in collaboration with the Odisha State Swimming Association (OSSA). Over the next few years, the partnership will focus on the holistic growth of the sport from grassroots to elite levels, including hosting national and international swimming championships as well as conducting 'Train the Trainers' courses in Odisha. Such efforts to develop the swimming ecosystem will undoubtedly bring results in the upcoming decades. This will benefit the athlete to enhance their capabilities and compete better at international level.
